Sarah ![]() Sarah after the Indy Half-Marathon (and a shower!) ************************************************************************ Running has always been a part of my life. I ran my first race in 2nd grade...a 50 yard dash, I beat all the boys in my class and I was hooked! I ran track in high school and college, but was a sprinter, jumper, heptathlete, etc., I avoided running anything more than a mile whenever possible. But soon after graduating, I realized that I would look kind of weird hurdling and jumping just for the fun of it, so I started the long road to becoming a "runner". My friend and I decided to sign up for a marathon because we were young, in decent shape, didn't have kids or husbands yet, and it was on our list of "things to do before we die". I have now run 3 marathons, two half marathons, and more 5 milers, 5ks and tiny little road races than I can count. I'm still not fast, nor will I ever be. I run because I love it. It keeps me strong, it keeps me healthy, it keeps me sane and it keeps me alive. I was so excited to hear about WIM! I moved to Lynchburg from Chicago to live closer to my family after finishing grad school. One of my biggest concerns was who I could find to run with. I have heard so much about a special lady named Sabrina. I only wish I could have known her! Thanks for WIM! |
